The blog header is a pic taken by me on a recent trip to Bandipur. Here’s the full version of it. So now you know I am a photographer too. Below are some of my work, I have also recently begin to maintain a photoblog where I upload the pics which I think are the best I have taken. Check out Sanjukta’s Photography

I think I have an eye for photography but I have never taken it very seriously for the simple reason that I never realized it myself. The fact that I am writing this page today, also don’t imply that some great revelation have finally dawned upon me about my hidden talents. But one thing has happened.
As I started sharing the random pics I click on my Flickr photostream I started getting quite good feedback. That, when 90% of my photostream are pics taken by a point and shoot camera (Sony Cyber Shot 5.3 Mpixel) with no post processing. Even then I have been complimented on the framing and composition.
So I told myself, “Hey, may be there really isn’t anything that I can’t do.” Ergo I am a writer, poet, photographer now.
Though to be an even better photographer I need to learn about lighting, more importantly I need to pick up a high end camera and learn a lot about post processing because that really do the trick for amateurs.
Till the time I pick up a high end camera, be an expert of post processing, get a paid software for processing, I will continue being under the impression, and would be proud for the same that the eye with which I see and capture a pure pic is much better or at least as good as a lot of those popular ones that I see on Flickr Explorer.
That said, there are a few of my photographer friends and I would never be better than them - Sanzen, Gopal, Vinayak, Sunil and Prashant to name a few…
Below I am showcasing what I think are some of the best pics I have taken in the last 2 years.
This one is in Delhi, a place where these artist were making Ravana Idols before the Dussherrah.
Holi in Snigdha Vinayak’s place.
On the way to Ooty
On my 3rd visit to Pondicherry.
Tea Plantations on the way to Coonoor
This is a special one considering Prashant said its very nice. On the way to Coorg.
On FlicKr I have a whole set dedicated to the three darlings, Jango, Pondy and Alleppey. This one is Pondy.
Also, on the 3rd visit to Pondicherry.
Near Dwarka crossing, one can stand at this point and watch flights take off and land all day. I thought the framing in this one is quite unique.
At Yamuna ghat in Delhi, Durga puja Bisarjan. (Immersion of the Idol)
Taken during Kite flying day in the Sexuality Right’s Institute in Pune.
Snigdha, on our daredevil trip to Hampi, Tamil Nadu
To be honest I myself don’t know what is so special about this pic, but on flickr it has got more than 3k views. There must be something.
Charminar, Hyderabad, Dec 2006

Reflections. Underground Shiva Temple in Hampi, Tamil Nadu
Was intrigued by the labour woman, the man in the background was a mere coincidence, together it tells a story. Taken near Tungabhadra river while in Hampi.
Ganeshas in the making: This again was yet another random pic I took, but none other than Sanzen commented on it and then I realised wow, I did wonders didn’t I. Assayee Road, Bangalore.
The Barbed wire. If you see the larger version closely you can see cob webs.
Hogenakkal Falls in River Cauvery. A mesmerising experience it was.
Again the Kite flying day in SRI Pune
Light Against the clouds, Pondicherry
This one tells the story of eternal longing. A now broken window, where once used to stand a pair of beautiful moist eyes lost in eternal longing. Place – Streets of Charminar, Hyderabad
And that’s my Adorable Nightmare, Jango, the most handsome dog I have ever seen.
Sun set at Taj Mahal, river Yamuna flowing…Taken by an ordinary Kodak mannual camera.
Open roads, I just can’t resist them. This should be the national emblem if the country was for wanderers and by wanderers, the road seems to be leading to the end of the universe. Taken in Jim Corbett National Park.
An Ex boyfriend said its quite nice. So :P
On an evening when it was raining like cats and dogs in Delhi, I was waiting at a bus stop. Saw this man walking and tried to capture the mystery.
The structure stands so strong till date if only the sky was a bit cloudy this could have been a very dramatic pic, that woman walking away leaving the man behind. (The woman is Snigdha btw)
UB City Concorde Block, Bangalore.
Nanak Pura Gurudwara, Delhi.
Aesthetically nothing so great about it but I like this one for the timing. It took efforts to capture the flight in my frame.
I love the way the shadow has fallen upon the faces of the people in the wall. Discreet desires. Hampi. Tamil Nadu.

hey sanjukta,

Pavan,
Just an input.
‘A photograph is as good as a photographer.’
See the sunset at Taj which seconds the above statement.
Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed the pics and style of of it. In some pics you used the shutter speed and aperture excellently.

Sankalp

Hi Sankalp, thanks for the kind words. Well I use an ordinary point and shoot. Sony Cybershot 5.3 mpixel…
I don’t know anything about shutter speed or any other aperture. no really I am being honest :)
I just see something interesting and click it. If it comes nice i upload here, a lot of them come badly too :)
