This is actually from the archives, published on this blog as two different posts sometime in Aug’05. I am making them into one piece of, something I call a fusion between prose and poetry, a propestry.

Yesterday she dreamt she had finally found him. He lived in Mars and she in Venus…he had always seen her over the stars…she had always known him over the galaxies. One day she heard a knock on her doors. There was standing an angel, carrying a message from him to her, a message that was lightened up by the glitz of those million star studded galaxies it crossed before reaching her. It had the smell of the flowers that blossomed in his heart when he wrote it…it carried the smile that was there on his lips and the glow that he had in his eyes. She lost herself in that one splendid moment when she took the envelope in her hand…she wanted to sing a song, she wanted to write a poem, she wanted to take a rocket and fly to his planet.

It was ‘to be continued,’ “something nice is going to happen tomorrow,” she thought.

But when tomorrow came reality it her and she wished her life had stopped at yesterday. So she sang,

Let there be no sequel
Life is so much better
if there was no tomorrow,
If there was no after and no before,
If life could be just that
The moment she was living
her heart pounding,
pulse rating higher,
thinking “could this be him?”
Dreaming of her dream again,
hoping “this is him”

Tomorrow, there is no dream
Tomorrow she is suspicious and apprehensive,
Tomorrow is truth, she knows bitter;
Future was never faithful to her present.

Let there be no sequel

  1. WoW, this is dense. I see pain, I see memories, I see a wish to go back in time where one lived.
I see a treasure of memories one is having in herself.

It is quite similar with a situation m suffering. Me wanted time to stop when I last smile in happiness, wanted to live the past again were I was living..

Now life is left Dreaming of my dream again,
    hoping to live again

  2. we all want it now dont we sanjukta :)
but the problem is it always has a sequel if only it ended at “happily ever after”..even that has an unknown “ever after”

  3. It so happens that you wait for a moment to happen and when you are in that moment you forget everything else. But that moment passes and you still want to relive that moment which doesn’t happen.
    Beautifully written :)

  4. after reading you piece two times over and staring at the words for quite some time…
a particular period of my life and a particular person came in my thoughts….remembrance you can call it or memories……

but i have a sequel to this also…..which is much better..coz i learnd the hard way what self respect is…..and never to deserve less than what i deserve….

  5. sanjukta, there was no name sanjukta in one of the yesterday. It is tomarrow which bring the name sanjukta. This today was tomarrow on one yesterday. so instead of being stagnant one should be accepting that tomarrow will be more joyful and u will find the same.
