Important Readings on The Jallikattu Ban

My Facebook post on 14th January Now regarding this Jallikattu ban, I don't care if it's your tradition religion sport or whatever, you just need to tone down your aggressive demands for this hypermasculine violent culture in which women have absolutely no participation. Each and every image of Jallikattu I have ever seen is about … Continue reading Important Readings on The Jallikattu Ban

The News Sucks And There’s a Femicide in Guatamela

Hello people. A confession, the staying off Facebook / Twitter didn't really work. Social media platforms are no longer just places to share your thoughts but also to seek information and exchange ideas. This bit was missing when we first started blogging. Back then it was only about sharing. So that's a learning from this experiment. … Continue reading The News Sucks And There’s a Femicide in Guatamela

Surge Pricing is Unfair, Unethical and Unconstitutional

We have metered billing for water, electricity, we pay phone bills by calls/hours. Imagine for all these things you had algorithm based random billing thrown at you.

Stop Judging Malaika and Arbaaz – Lifetime is Overrated

Marriage is an institution to control private property and women's sexuality. There is no great value in trying to preserve it. As long as it works, it should be fine, if it doesn't work, move on.

Bharat Mata and Britannia - Embodiment of Nation

Why Every Feminist Should Refuse to Say Bharat Mata Ki Jai

Hyper sexualized images of women in Bollywood item numbers strip them off their identity and reduce them to object of sexual gratification. The image of ‘Bharat Mata’ does exactly the same for the nationalist or patriotic gratification of its citizens.

Marital Rape and the Sacred Indian Marriage

A sacred Indian marriage is one where a young girl, who have been always kept segregated from men and taught “good girls don’t talk to boys,” is suddenly pushed inside a room with a stranger who is allowed to rape her because he married her

Porn ban in India – mainstreaming of women’s lack of sexual agency

Global porn industry is worth $97 Billion. It can be safely assumed that many women derive economic independence and sexual agency from this industry. It is absolutely ridiculous to presume that all such women need saving by self-righteous men.

Today I find a deep emotional and personal connect with Arvind Kejriwal and therefore I stand with him. Hybrid Gods in Greek, Roman civilization also by plastic surgeons in ancient India?

Indian Prime Minister recently claimed that in ancient times there must have been a plastic surgeon who fixed elephant head on human body and thus Lord Ganesha was created. By that logic, all such hybrid creatures worshiped as Gods in various other civilizations like Greek, Roman and Egyptian are also results of plastic surgeries. Does that mean all civilizations had equally advanced technology? Or did they come to India to get surgeries done?

Kailash Satyarthi

I survived rape

Shashi Tharoor is right – Reveal rape victim’s name – Kudos to girl’s family for agreeing

what is wrong in revealing real identity? And this question is not to media or public but the survivor herself, or the family members in case she is no more. Why do we hide our face and identity in shame in case of rape? We don’t hide in shame in case of murder, theft, robbery, cheating. Then why in case of rape? Shashi Tharoor was right in his tweet where he questioned, “what interest is served by hiding the name?” Really ever wondered what interest? Whose interest?

I survived rape

That’s it, she died – but did I survive the rape?

This morning when I woke up to the news of her death, suddenly I realized all my thoughts had stopped at me. I could be her, I could be dead. One evening I was there, and then I was dead, because I was a woman, because some men decided to have sex with me by force, because...whatever, point is I am dead. So before my soul rests in peace, which I doubt is going to be anytime soon, let me ask a few questions to myself, and to all you girls out there

Future of New Media

The writer's strike might end by Sunday. A bright future of new media ahead.
